Have you ever noticed how the color of a t-shirt fades once it has been laundered? Or have you ever noticed how the waistband from your trousers becomes lumpy after you have laundered it? The reason you find yourself in this position is a result of fading quality. So the predicament we find ourselves in, is how to ensure that the textile pieces we purchase have enough quality to sustain it completely. For this purpose, the Quality Control (QC) section is of vital importance to us as it has the ability to ensure that the color on clothes is able to withstand regular use. The key focus here is to test the item to ensure its ability to withstand various conditions before shipment.

The QC section can be viewed as the quality management section, as it helps you to choose which tests are the most important for different types of fabric used. Fading quality may cause buyers to reject samples that have been offered due to quality issues. Based on the worst case scenario, customers could lose faith in your brand if they deduce poor performance on the part of the product.

Take for instance, an international company similar to Adidas or Nike Inc., because they have protocols in place to maintain quality consistency for its global supply chain. Consequently, they are able to seek out different factories in respective areas while maintaining the same quality. In comparison, the company I work for, has an effective QC sector which allows us to test for quality consistency before shipments. This process also assists us in getting ahead of unpredictable aspects of failing quality issues which is a vital aspect of the quality control procedure before the cargo is loaded for distribution.

The two pairs of shorts I brought from online stores

On a more personal level, I bought two pairs of shorts from online stores a few weeks ago⬆️⬆️⬆️, which I used to conduct my own experiment. From the picture description, we can clearly see how the black waistband of the first pair of shorts has become lumpy after it was washed. In contrast, the second pair of grey shorts is still in an acceptable condition even after it was washed. Despite the label on the black short which reads ‘’ Designed in Britain’’ and ‘’ Made in China’’, I felt that this product was simply a knockoff item produced in China. I then tried to return the item, and the Customer Service Department informed me that they would replace the product as an apology.

However, this unpleasant experience has completely destroyed my trust in this product. Taking into consideration the fact that Rome wasn’t built in a day, I had to accept that neither is credibility. In a sequence of events, If QC had caught the issue of fading quality before shipment, then I would not have needed to send through a customer complaint. Additionally, if the Customer Service Department had been honest regarding the quality of the product I would have spared myself a great deal of unpleasantness dealing with this issue. As in the case of a supply chain, once a part of that chain is affected by some form of damage, the chain as a whole becomes affected. In short, it is a sign of fairness on the part of the company to accurately express the quality of the product to all customers. This is what builds up company credibility. The QC sector: Company Credibility.
