Career Perspective (3) — The Millennials Should Follow Macro Patience and Micro Speed

Thanks to those outstanding engineers who invented the Internet and the outsourcing factories in Asia, who produce the infinite series of smartphones for the costumers to purchase. That includes all the people who have smartphones, unless they are forbidden to use one. Nowadays, everything is accessible to us whenever we need, including commuting, having your lunch break or even when you aren’t ready to retire to bed. This helps us to access Google at any time we want.
Meanwhile, the rise of the Internet creates the best opportunity. However, if we look closer, there is a massive issue behind the“ best opportunity”. There’s a numberless of “The Millennials” deciding to travel the world to seek “Life” after graduation. For some of them, the reason they travel mostly links to social media. Therefore, they could visualize the view they fancy seeing and overlooking the modern world in front of them. It’s just like what you see in the world through the kaleidoscope, with a single eye by using a narrow tube, rather than not handing it down.
Even though being the Millennials have ostensible advantages, but there are still a few deficiencies, and these are the reasons for us to be called the Millennials. You can binge-watch the whole season overnight without waiting on a weekly basis. You may count on electrical devices that offer you temporary relief when you are under pressure. You can meet a new date by swiping right. You would be complacent when everything comes easily and quickly. You don’t need to put any effort to get things you want. Those made the Millennials are more vulnerable.

One of my colleagues, who was born in 1997, represents of the Millennials. She is about to quit merely because there is no ‘’impact’’, which refers to wait for Friday night from the Blue Monday on a weekly basis. In addition to that, another colleague believes the new hire is uncoachable if it cannot be adept in skill after one month of training, in terms of her allegation. Maybe they are jaded by perfunctory life in the office. Moreover, the common bond points I see are that they are myopic and impatient.
During our childhood, instead of relying on the people around us, we relied on our electrical devices. Therefore, we don’t know how to build a deeply meaningful relationship. Nobody was born to know how to drive and there is no App for it. We have to put efforts to succeed in it. And I reckon the priority is building the patience. We don’t just plant a significant tree with juicy fruits and vivid flowers overnight, it takes time. “Macro Patience, Micro Speed” is that who can dominate, who would last and smile until the end.
