Career Perspective (24 ) — The Perspective From Quality System Auditor
The audit is the process associated with monitoring the manufacturing process and system in the company. Due to manufacturing errors, the factory must use additional services to fix them. For example, additional services means redo, repair, etc. That also includes a cost due to the additional services that comes with overworking hours. In other words, most of the time errors mean financial losses incurred by the company.
As an auditor in the company, my task is to ensure the company’s control processes operate effectively. Auditors are familiar with processes and systems in the company, they became the company representative that handles external audits our customers require. Auditors must be objective in the operations and report the errors that have to be evaluated.
On a personal note, the company’s improvement is driven by an audit that discovers the manufacturing issue and tailor-made a solution to cure it. That also creates boundaries for an engaged workforce with discipline. On the other hand, this is a position that can make you a few enemies, with people always questioning your decisions and complaining about them. at the end of the day, it is your job to make tough choices even if others don’t really appreciate it.
Look at the bright side, audit is an opportunity for improvement. The auditors must go through processes thoroughly to discover the root cause when the system detects errors. This is the last step to get closer to achieving the customers’ requirements.
